Similarly, long posts/captions have gotten a lot of hate over the past few years.
I've found that a healthy mix of long and short captions effectively gets the job done without hurting your brand.
If you're a serial fluffer and write long posts that really don't say anything valuable, maybe stick to short, more succinct content.
