One of today’s visitors to our pollinator garden - a two-spotted bumble bee enjoying our native downy wood mint.

Downy wood mint loves dry soil and is a pollinator magnet.

The last photo is of the downy wood mint by itself to give a fuller view of this beautiful stacked pink-purple flower.

Another favorite spring native flower - the eastern red columbine (or wild red columbine) blooming in our yard.

This columbine is the only native columbine and the only host plant for the columbine duskywing skipper. It’s also one of the first nectar sources for native bees and hummingbirds.

Photographed during golden hour.
