This week we remember all wildland firefighters who have sacrificed everything in the line of duty to protect the people and places they loved.
During this week especially, let us remember the loss of the three wildland firefighters who gave everything battling the Knowles Fire.
Caring for the few, who care for the many.
No one fights alone.

The month of June brought a lot of grief to our community.
The loss of officers and firefighters alike, both off-duty and on-duty. Different circumstances, still loss. A hole left behind in departments, in crews, in families, and in towns that depended on these people showing up.
Like fire, we know that grief doesn’t stay contained. It moves through the people closest to the loss. Through entire departments and crews– the colleague who worked the last shift with them, the dispatcher who took the call, the rookie who looked up to them, the family members of every first responder everywhere who suddenly feel how close the job sits to danger- to the not coming home. And the people who are not connected to first response- but are a father, mother, husband, wife, or child who see the loss, feel the heartache, and are holding their own a little closer.
If you’re carrying any part of this grief right now, you don’t have to carry it alone.
To the families, departments, and crews affected: we see you, and we’re holding space for you.
The calendar turns to July today, but we know that grief doesn’t simply turn a page. First Responder Trauma Services is here — not just through the end of a hard month, but through every day that follows it, no matter how long the weight lingers.
