🚨 Meet Wendell. A tiny puppy with a very big obstacle ahead of him. 🚨
This sweet 10–12-week-old Poodle puppy should be spending his days chasing toys, discovering the world, and figuring out what it means to be loved. Instead, Wendell found himself alone as a stray on the streets of Norfolk, trying to get by with a severely broken leg.
After being evaluated by a veterinary team, we received heartbreaking news. Because of where the fracture is located, it simply can't be repaired. The bone is too damaged, and the only humane option to give Wendell a pain-free, happy future is amputation.
The good news? Dogs—especially puppies—are incredibly resilient. They don't dwell on what they've lost. They adapt, they heal, and they run, play, and live full lives on three legs. We know Wendell has an amazing future ahead of him... we just need to get him there.
As a nonprofit rescue, unexpected emergencies like this put a significant strain on our medical budget. Wendell's surgery, medications, diagnostics, and recovery care will cost far more than we anticipated, but saying "no" was never an option. Can you blame us? Look at that face!
