A brief history of the FANSplash project has been pinned to the top of this page in case those who are new to Wi******er or to the Family Action Network (FAN) are confused as to how FAN is associated with FANSplash. Though many current FAN members were volunteers and/or donors to the project, none of the current FAN Board members had been associated with the project in any way and, therefore, have no knowledge of the history or the current operation of the park. If you have any questions about splash park operations, please feel free to contact Wi******er Recreation who are solely responsible for the park. They can be contacted at: (781) 721-7125.
This website is dedicated to recounting the history of how the splash park at Borggaard Beach came to be.
In 2009, Wi******er's Family Action Network (FAN) Board approved the formation of a philanthropic arm, called FANSplash. FANSplash's goal was to raise money for a splash park at Borggaard Beach. Despite the difficult economic climate, FANSplash raised an incredible $230,000 in ten months, enabling the splash park to be built and opened by the following summer! This accomplishment was made possible by the vision, hard work and dedication of over 100 FAN volunteers and to the general FAN membership, who represented the majority of FANSplash's individual financial contributions. In fact, 80% of the private funds raised for the splash park were donated by FAN membership.
In 2010, FanSplash officially gifted the funds it raised to build the splash park to the Town of Wi******er. By making the splash park at Borggaard Beach a reality, The Family Action Network, through its philanthropic arm FANSplash (now defunct), created a wonderful legacy for the Town of Wi******er and its residents.
Please note that the Town of Wi******er maintains full operational control over Borggaard Beach and the splash park; all questions about the park should be directed to Wi******er Recreation at (781) 721-7125.
Splash park is now open daily from 9 to 5 weekdays and 12 to 5 on weekends. The pond will be open for swimming after school lets out.
