As a part of crowd management training, BLET cadets are introduced to riot control agents CS and CN. As a part of this training, they are exposed to CN gas in an indoor confined setting as well as CS gas in an outdoor setting. Exposure to these irritants gives the cadets a realistic experience of the effects on individuals should it become necessary to deploy them. Cadets are also trained to use different line formations to control a crowd.

Cadets recently spent time performing “grass drills.” These drills are exercises used to build physical endurance, discipline, communication, and ultimately teamwork. By going through these drills together, cadets learn to work as a team rather than as individuals.
