Silver Spurs Riding Lessons
Everyone meet Olive and Alice! Affectionately called “Alice Palace”!! We met Miss Olive and Alice at a barrel race and they have been coming over for lessons since!! Just these past few weeks have shown great improvement and better riding skills! I can’t wait to see these two in action this weekend at their rodeo!!
Olive and Alice (affectionately called “Alice Palace”) taking a swim! This kid and horse have done amazing these past few weeks at their lesson!
One of our newer lesson girls also had a lesson yesterday and boy is she progressing quickly and correctly!
Emily is new to riding and has only been with us a month!
Emily has come so far in that month and I’m sure she’s going to get even better!
Emily is now learning to keep her center and stay balanced while the horse is trotting!
She has become such a bright light in our lesson program and is coming out of her shell!! She is quick witted and such a fun little personality!
She has poured blood, sweat, and tears in her riding and to see her blossom is so rewarding for not only me but her!
This girl is going to do great things and I can’t wait to see it!
Our OG lesson student that has been coming to me even before I started doing lessons professionally had a lesson yesterday and let me tell you, she’s taking this by storm!
Although I didn’t get a video of Rilynn loping yesterday I did get a video of her warming up and this shows just as much as her loping!
Just a few short months ago this girl wasn’t able to balance her self in the saddle at a trot and now not only is she balanced in the trot she’s able to control the horse properly in both the trot and lope!
Watching this girl go from worried and stressed every time she got on the horse to now being happy and carefree is enough for me!
I can’t wait to see how she does at the next rodeo and I can’t wait for her to show off her newly learned loping skills!

My girls did it!
Two of my lesson girls, Rilynn (oldest) and haven (youngest) competed in the Winnsboro Barrel Series this past summer and knocked it out of the park!
Each of them got a belt buckle and a grooming tote!
Rilynn has come leaps and bounds from the beginning of the summer and I couldn’t be more proud of her! She is gaining her confidence and growing in her horse journey so much! I can’t wait to see what this season has in store for her I know she’s going to do great things!
As for Haven, she may be small but my gosh is she mighty! She is gearing up and we are getting ready to slowly move her towards riding on her own but as for now lead line it is!
The smiles that these two girls had at the end of the series banquet is what it’s all about!
I can’t wait to see both of them blossom into amazing horse rider!
Emily is our newest lesson student who is taking horse riding by storm!
We love her here at Silver Spurs Riding Lessons and can’t wait to see this love for horses turn into an unstoppable passion in her!
We love her s***k, great attitude, and willingness to learn!
Emily had a last minute lesson yesterday so she had to use my saddle (oops🤪) but that just made her learn how to use her seat and upper legs for balance and direction rather than relying on the saddle!
I can’t wait for our next lesson and to see you grow so much sweet girl!

Are you wondering “what do lessons include?”
Well I would love to tell you!
Beginner lessons include a from the basics teaching.
Week 1-4 lunging and parts of the body
we will go over lunging and learning how to move the horse with our body from the ground. A big part of this is knowing the 3 basic areas of the body to ensure we maintain control as well as staying out of the horses line of movement
There will also be a study sheet sent home to look over and memorize for the parts of the body for the next weeks quiz!
Week 5-8- tacking a grooming
Once they have mastered that we move on to tacking and grooming. Tacking up includes how to put on your pad, saddle, boots, and bridle!
Grooming is getting all the dirt off the horse, brushing the mane and tail, and cleaning out all for hooves.
We will send home a study sheet that has the saddle and names on it to study for the quiz the next week on what each part of the saddle is used for and called.
Week 9-12- saddle time
Once they are in the saddle we focus on our posture, our hands, our seat, and most importantly how to communicate with our horse through our body.
This is the final steps to being able to start to ride off on their own and put all the skills they have learned to work!
These weeks are for the most important study sheet which is where your body should be depending on what you are asking the horse to do. We will have a short quiz every week but the last week is the big test to see if they know where to put each body part!
Once the first and hardest 12 weeks are completed we can start learning how to ride on our own and achieving our goals for our riding!
