π€« What exactly is "silent reflux"?
Many parents are told their baby has silent reflux because they show signs of reflux without actually spitting up.
According to The Colic Doc, one explanation is that babies who are uncomfortable often feed for comfort instead of hunger. As the stomach becomes overfilled, gas and bloating increase pressure inside the abdomen.
That pressure can push milk upward. Sometimes the milk comes out as spit-up. Other times, it travels up the esophagus and falls back into the stomach without ever leaving the mouth, leading some to refer to it as "silent" reflux.
At our office, our goal is to address the underlying source of the belly pressure. As the bloating and abdominal pressure improve, many families notice their baby's reflux symptoms become much less frequent.
This reel is part of our July series:
"Is It Acid Reflux?"
Have you been told your baby has silent reflux? We'd love to hear your experience in the comments. π€

HEATHER'S STORY π€
Before treatment, Heather says she had to send at least four burp cloths to daycare every day because her baby was spitting up so often.
After treatment with The Colic Doc, she noticed a dramatic change.
WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?
Frequent spitting up and even projectile vomiting are often associated with:
β’ Colic pain and bloating that create pressure in the tummy
β’ Excessive crying that can lead to overfeeding
β’ Increased pressure against the diaphragm and stomach
The Colic Doc believes many babies are struggling with a weak ileocecal valve, located between the small and large intestines.
When this valve begins functioning more normally, gas, bloating, and discomfort may decrease.
As the pressure in the tummy improves, many parents report that their baby's spitting up improves too.
Every baby is different, but for Heather's family, the difference was impossible to miss.
The Colic Doc helps babies in his office every day with this exact issue.
If you canβt travel to Wichita, his online course teaches parents his gentle technique step by step.
