Week Two at the Capitol!!
We’re off to a fast start this session!
Recent tax reforms include:
Elimination of the 1.5 mill state levy – returning $81 million annually to Kansans.
Elimination of the state food sales tax.
Increase in residential property tax exemption from $20,000 to $75,000.
Simplified income tax brackets and higher standard deductions.
Removal of state tax on Social Security benefits.
Doubling the childcare tax credit.
I still have an emphasis on permanent tax relief and the need for local government accountability in property tax increases.
Convention of States:
HB2065 - Ensures delegates are Kansas legislators and they must follow strict instructions and can be recalled.
SRC1604 – Making Kansas the 20th. State to apply for a convention focused on:
Federal fiscal restraints, limiting federal power and term limits for federal officials.

This was my view yesterday arriving to work and when I left the Capitol. As we wrap up our first week in session, things are moving pretty fast. I'm ready to dig in and get to work for the great people who call Kansas home.
