ership Program (PSP) in Whittier. In 2005, the PROedu curriculum was developed by and for Latino parents and it builds upon the MALDEF - PSP curriculum. El currículo PROedu, se enfoca en el fortalecimiento de las habilidades de liderazgo y abogacía de los padres al participar conscientemente en la vida integral de sus hijos: su desarrollo, crianza y educación. The PROedu curriculum, focuses on strengthening the parenting, leadership and advocacy skills of the parents to participate consciously in the lives of their children: their development, nurturing and education. PROedu is a comprehensive curriculum that consists of 26 sessions that promote best practices in the following areas:

EVALUACIÓN Y RESULTADOS
Transformative Inquiry Design for Effective Schools and Systems (TIDES) dirigido por el Emeritus Professorde la Universidad de California -San Diego , Dr. Janet Chrispeels , con el apoyo en investigación de Dr. Gloria Bañuelos, completaron una evaluación sobre el Programa de PSP de MALDEF en junio de 2013 . PROedu fue uno de los seis grupos que participaron en la evaluación. Los padres participantes de PROedu informaron que después de tomar el programa PSP- PROedu , hubo un incremento en los siguientes áreas :
~ Desarrollo general de sus habilidades de crianza: comunicación efectiva y capacidad de escuchar y ser un modelo positivo
~ Comprensión de sus derechos y responsabilidades legales en los sistemas escolares estadounidenses
~ Comprensión de su activo rol en ayudar a sus hijos a tener éxito académico mediante una base diaria: crear un ambiente de estudio eficaz en casa, el seguimiento de su tarea, asegurar que su hijo asista a la escuela a tiempo y hablar de la importancia de estudiar duro en la escuela y establecer objetivos de una carrera
~ Conocimiento de los requisitos necesarios para graduarse de la escuela secundaria ( reclasificación , GPA y créditos) y continuar hacia la educación post -secundaria a partir de entonces.
~ Participación en hacer cambios en sus escuelas y comunidades a través de la adopción de medidas colectivas para crear una comunidad más segura.
~ Entendimiento de sus derechos legales y sus responsabilidades en el sistema escolar de USA. EVALUATION & FINDINGS
Transformative Inquiry Design for Effective Schools and Systems (TIDES) led by UC-San Diego’s Emeritus Professor, Dr. Janet Chrispeels, along with co-investigator Gloria Bañuelos, Ph.D., completed an evaluation on MALDEF’s PSP Program in June of 2013. PROedu was amongst the six groups that participated in the evaluation. Parent participants from PROedu reported that after taking the PSP –PROedu program, there was an increase in the following:
~ Overall development of parenting skills, such as: gaining effective communicating and listening skills; and being a positive role model
~ Understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities in American school systems
~ Understanding of their active role in helping their children succeed academically by creating an effective study environment at home, monitoring their homework on a daily basis, making sure their child attends school on time and talking about the importance of studying hard in school and setting career objectives
~ Knowledge of the requirements necessary for children to graduate high school (reclassification, GPA and credits) and continue onto post-secondary education thereafter.
~ Involvement to make changes in their schools and community through taking collective actions to create a safer community
~ Understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities in the school system in USA
