The City of Joliet, IL has launched a $55 million redevelopment of the train station into a multi-modal regional transportation center. The redevelopment calls for the construction of a waiting and ticket building for Metra and Amtrak riders, independent of Joliet Union Station. Until that facility is built, Metra tickets will be sold from a temporary trailer.
Bill Woods of Amramp NW Illinois & SW Wisconsin was asked to provide wheelchair access for the trailer during the estimated one year of construction.

The Wheaton, IL local school district’s Special Education transition program recently moved their offices to a new location. This program, which assists special education students and gives vocational training, found they had a 4” step at the inside of the
entrance to their new offices. The landlord had to supply a level landing area at the door along with an ADA-compliant ramp to the floor. He had very few choices including a very costly and time-consuming option of breaking up the existing floor and pouring
concrete in the required configuration.
The landlord turned to one of their other tenants, Bill Woods of Amramp NW Illinois & SW Wisconsin for a solution. Bill and the landlord worked with one of Amramp’s vendors, SafePath. The SafePath team put together a great design and an exceptional
product. It was installed in time for their open house on 9/20/14.
Everyone is pleased with what turned out to be a simple solution thanks to Amramp and SafePath.
