A major heat wave has started and will worsen as the week goes on. 🔥🌡🥵

It’s not safe for pets to be outside in extreme temperatures. If it's uncomfortable to hold the back of your hand on the asphalt or pavement for 3-5 seconds, then it is too hot for paws! 🔥🐾 Walk your pet in the early morning or well after the sun has gone down.

It's best to leave your pets at home, but should you need to travel, use a blanket to protect them from the heat of leather seats and never leave them unattended in the car.

Signs of heat stroke include heavy panting, rapid heart rate, weakness, disorientation, excessive drooling and vomiting. If you suspect heat related illness:
• Move your pet to a cool area immediately
• Gradually cool with fans and cool (not cold) water or towels
• Offer small amounts of water (never force drinking)
• Avoid ice baths
