Really excited about this!
The Right To Read documentary, produced by LeVar Burton, is about the reading crisis in America. Why is this story important to a person with dyslexia? Part of this story shows how the brain learns to read, and that's the same for everyone. Students with dyslexia may need more exposure or other accommodations, but ALL people learn to read through systematic, explicit instruction. This story is about correcting the way teachers teach reading to the whole class. It's now or never...or private tutoring. $$$$

A must listen.
Sold a Story shares why so many of our children are struggling readers and what research has proven as effective interventions to help. Parents need to understand what types of misleading theories are out there that often confuse our youngest readers and can unfortunately make reading more difficult. As a classroom teacher, I utilized these misleading strategies simply because I did not know any better. The Science of Reading has provided us evidence on how our brains process language and the most effective methods on how to teach young children how to read.

Science has proven that those diagnosed with dyslexia have physical differences in the way their brain accesses language compared to peers without a language-based learning difference. Dyslexic students that receive the right intervention can physically alter their brains by strengthening neural pathways needed for processing language and gaining proficiency in reading and writing skills. Most importantly, early intervention provides more success because a younger child’s brain is much more formidable. Screening for signs of dyslexia in kindergarten students is so important in providing the most effective interventions!
