Ligularia fischeri or gomchwi. A perennial Asian green that is super productive. These have taken their time to get big enough to flower and harvest here in Colorado. Fava beans coming up. These were plated 3-4 weeks ago before we got a round of spring snow. These are a tall variety and are in alternate rows with parsnips to give a double yield from this bed with only one planting. The favas will get the microbes going and provide some nitrogen for the parsnips, while the parsnips will help shade the fava’s roots when it starts to get hot.

Meanwhile, the favas in the cold frame that were planted in January are just now starting to bloom.
