This is an exclusive by Automotive News that started by notifying readers about a ‘request for public comments’ from DOT / NHTSA in the Federal Register ‘Feds move to consider cars with no steering wheels, brake pedals’ March 15, 2019 (https://www.autonews.com/regulation-safety/feds-move-consider-cars-no-steering-wheels-brake-pedals)

I for one was very grateful to read about this in AN and then took full advantage of the opportunity to officially propose a solution to the NHTSA that would help ensure our public safety in the inevitable development of fully autonomous vehicles.

To read the ‘Answer due ‘soon’ on GM’s driverless request’ on July 27, 2019 (https://www.autonews.com/mobility-report/answer-due-soon-gms-driverless-request) in a relatively short time after the comment period was closed on May 20, 2019 is reassurance that the U.S. Department of Transportation did benefit by our public comments as outlined in my Letter to the Editor of AN ‘Public comments a big opportunity’ April 08, 2019 (https://www.autonews.com/letter-editor/public-comments-big-opportunity)
