Hairstylists are like unique little snowflakes, our methods and pace vary significantly from person to person. Im too old and been in this business too long to be embarrassed about how long my appointments take. Let’s face it, life is busy. We got places to be, believe me, I get it. But i also hold myself to an extremely high standard, and I simply refuse to cut corners to save time. You may not get a quick service when you sit in my chair, but you know what you will get? Incredible hair, great conversation and a bangin’ head massage. Let it be an excuse to carve out some time for you to relax, or to answers all those emails you’ve been avoiding, or read that book that you just haven’t been able to find time for. Come for the hair, but enjoy the experience. My major colour/blonding appointments take anywhere from up to 3 hours for a partial to 5+ hours for a transformation. I know some people will be like “oh man, i could never…” and you know what, thats ok. We all have different priorities. There are plenty of amazing fast paced hairstylists out there, I’m just not one of them. And I’m okay with that, cause i know when i take my time, magic happens and my clients leave loving their hair. So here i am, owning my pace, refusing to feel ashamed, regardless of peoples expectations on how long appointments “should” take.
