The State Board of Education of Ohio today selected Stephen Dackin as Ohio's next superintendent of public instruction and leader of the Ohio Department of Education. With more than 40 years of service in education, he has experience in both postsecondary and preK-12 education settings. Congratulations, Mr. Dackin!

Jeff Bertke's passion for teaching is electric! This Upper Valley Career Center electrical trades educator elevates the learning experience by creating projects that transform the lives of others.

He led his students in repurposing a vacated church into a community learning center, which included a rewiring project to outfit the building with a wireless network. This created a valuable after-school space for students.

The Ohio TORCH program signifies Teachers of Ohio Representing Character and Heart. We applaud Mr. Bertke on his incredible work and congratulate him as one of this year's Ohio TORCH honorees!
