MKL Rattery
We are working to breed some beautiful and healthy rat pups, in the meantime enjoy our little fur characters.
This cage will be destroyed in about ten minutes but it looks nice for now 🤣 just missing the hammocks in the wash.

Cleaner for your rat cage! Mix a spray bottle half white vinegar half water and it’s perfectly safe for your rats to breathe and to *accidentally* ingest a bit. It is also an odor neutralizer and super cheap!

Litter training!
First you’ll need a corner litter box that will hook on the wires of your rats’ cage. Then you’ll need critter litter OR kiln dried pine pellets which can be found at tractor supply or IFA.
Your rats at first won’t get the hang of it. Whether new babies or adults being introduced to a litter box. Plus babies will be less mindful and take more time in training just like human babies. Every time your rat poops outside of the litter box, every day pick it up and put it in their litter box. Eventually they will understand that’s where you want them to go. They may not use it 100% of the time, but 90% and it will make life easier and the cage cleaner! Both males and females will always mark with a few drops of their p*e. Their whole life. Whether it’s across your hand, on your lap, in their bed, or literally anywhere. That’s something you can’t train out of them just like you can’t train dogs to not p*e every 30 seconds while walking around the block.
Males tend to have a stronger odor so need their cages to be cleaned more often than females. Females p*e just as much, they just don’t have as strong of a urine scent.
With marking especially for females, you can get a “p*e rock,” a literal rock to go in the litter box, and they will like to mark/p*e on it and that will encourage them to p*e INSIDE the litter pan!

Sweet Nyla saw the vet today after some minor bleeding and no babies. The vet did an x-ray and there’s no skeletons but he definitely feels something there and it’s very hard. He thinks it’s mummified babies which is where the babies die before their skeletons formed. Tomorrow morning she’s scheduled to get them removed and to get a spay. Because of these issues she would probably have them again so we’re keeping her safe. 💕
