The Delta Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded on April 6, 1951 on the campus of the Cheyney Teachers College (now known as Cheyney University of Pennsylvania ) by Ernest Berry, Eugene Crocker, Frank Devine, Arthur Evans, Wilbur Fordham, Louis Gratti, William Harter, Allan Smallwood, Wayman Smith, and Paul Vance.
