2030 will be the 100th anniversary since the first World Cup ⚽️ and may be the last time it’s hosted in the summertime, thanks to global warming making the June/July tradition increasingly dangerous.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has started discussions to move the event to March or October, and the 2026 games have made some changes to accommodate higher temperatures and more weather-related delays (like the thunderstorms that sent practicing players inside in Kansas City last week).
