Impetigo is a highly contagious, superficial bacterial skin infection common in younger kids.
It usually happens through minor cuts, insect bites, scrapes, or rashes, and typically appears on the face.
If you suspect the infection with one of your little ones, make sure not share towels, washcloths, utensils, etc as it can easily pass to family members.
Mild cases are typically treated with topical ointments, and more severe or widespread cases may require oral antibiotics.
