Mayor Vergano has fought the low and moderate incoming housing that is being forced upon us by the state of New Jersey. We have battled in court numerous times arguing to try and keep our town a suburban community. We will continue to keep Wayne a great place to live. He has fought for the residents of Wayne who have been severely impacted by flooding, as securing over $100 million dollars in federal funds to purchase 380 of the most impacted homes by flooding. These purchases have enabled families and first responders to be removed from harm’s way in the event of a severe flood event. He has worked tirelessly to revitalize our commercial ratable base by encouraging the development and redevelopment of commercially zoned properties throughout the township. While Mayor Vergano has always believed that Wayne is a great place to live, work and raise a family. He is always looking for ways to improve upon the services provided to its residents. He has upgraded the township website to allow online registration and permitting for many programs and services. This also allows for the access to “Video on Demand” of all previously recorded governmental meetings. Mayor Vergano’s vision for the future included the recent purchase of the Wayne Community Center, located at 1 Pike Drive. This 150,000 square foot former YMCA will be a place for the community to use, not just today but also future generations will be able to use the new facility. This building was purchased by using funds available in the open space fund and did not affect the current tax rate. As a parent, he is very concerned about the youth of the community, and this is a great place for our youth to utilize. Please continue to join us at our Summer concert series starting in June.
