When a young girl's bicycle was destroyed in an accident today, our firefighters knew they wanted to help. Thanks to their generosity, we were able to surprise her with a brand new bike and helmet to put a smile back on her face. Throughout the year our employees hold fundraisers to build our community outreach fund, which supports donations like this one. Thank you to Waterloo Firefighters IAFF L66 for planning these fundraisers and to everyone that contributes - It's not often that we're able to turn a resident's bad day into a better one!

Meet Waterloo Fire Rescue’s EMS Training Officer, Dave Meiser. Dave began his career with WFR in 2009 and became the department’s EMS Training Officer in 2022. He keeps very busy keeping everyone in the department up to date on current medical equipment and skill levels. He holds a national paramedic certification with a critical care endorsement. Dave was promoted to lieutenant in 2025, is a TEMS Team member and was awarded Firefighter of the Year in 2024.
