Empower DC
The DC Council is finalizing the programs that city will fund in next year's budget. There is currently a $600 million cut to safety net programs including housing, healthcare, and childcare. We need the DC Council to raise revenue by taxing wealthy residents & businesses fairly. Let your Councilmember know! (Link in story / or use the mold action in our bio)
Your Councilmembers need to hear from you today. FIll out the Access to Justice Email Action - Link in Bio
D.C. Council is deciding on what programs & services DC will fund in next year's budget and the Access to Justice Initiative is facing a crisis. The Mayor's budget cuts funding from by 86% – from $31.7 million to just $4.487 million. We are calling on the Council to restore funding to ensure that residents facing eviction, domestic violence, the loss of public benefits, and other urgent legal challenges can access legal services.
This funding supports our community’s most vulnerable residents. It allows Empower DC to provide direct outreach and education to residents at risk of eviction or displacement.
