Computer programming became a viable answer. By exposing deaf/ hard of hearing students to this skill set, we offer them the world of options in terms of being leaders towards innovation, inspiration, and economic empowerment. Society wins because we get to enjoy the contribution of such talent, as well as, the economic contribution towards the economy. The U.S. workforce in expected to add over 1 million tech/ computing related jobs within the next 8 years. Why not rise to the occasion and support the deaf/ hard of hearing in being a valued part of this need? There are several advantages to programming as a career. Among those is the ability to work remotely, and have all the communication done via email, texting, or other forms of captioning. I hope that by providing the path towards computing, we are able to change the equation.
