A missing apostrophe on a permit application held up a broadband infrastructure project that would bring fast, reliable internet to people in Hawaii.

It sounds unbelievable, but that really happened.

Across the country, broadband providers are standing by and ready to build but are often met with challenges in the permitting process in municipalities. Exorbitant fees, requirements unrelated to the actual build, and excessive reviewers are among the challenges noted by our member providers.

Kudos to the Federal Communications Commission, which proposed a new rule reforming the permitting process to help telecom providers expand connectivity in America.
