✈️ “Airplanes.” Emy titled her scroll Airplanes in honor of a memory that has stayed with her since childhood. Her dad is an Air Force veteran, and before one of his deployments they would visit a museum on the base where he worked and spend time looking at airplanes together. Those moments became a core memory and a symbol of connection, family, and growing up. She also reflects on her experience at school and values that it gives students room to express themselves, explore creativity, and experience things that feel different from a traditional school environment—from performances to art classes and unexpected moments of inspiration. Looking ahead, she hopes art continues to be part of her life because she can’t imagine being passionate about anything else, and she’s also interested in one day becoming a teacher herself. Her scroll celebrates memory, creativity, and following the things that make you feel most alive. 🎶
🎨 “More Than One Color.” Emerson named their scroll as a declaration of identity and self-acceptance. As someone who holds many identities at once—Black, genderqueer, living with ADHD—they shared how often people try to place them into a single box because it feels easier or more comfortable. But life, and identity, is never just one thing. Emerson believes it is more honest and powerful to embrace every part of who you are rather than flatten yourself into something simpler for others to understand. Their scroll celebrates complexity, authenticity, and the freedom to exist as many colors at once. 🎶
🌅 "You got a new sunrise every single day and with that new opportunities." Alex named his scroll Mountain Fall to symbolize fresh beginnings in Maine, where each day feels like a chance to start anew. For him, the easternmost coast represents resilience and hope, a reminder that America’s strength lies in its ability to embrace new opportunities and carry forward its history into a brighter future. 🎵
🌱 “Growing Up.” Mya titled her scroll Growing Up as a reflection on becoming more aware of the world and of herself over time. Growing up in a military family environment, she felt connected from a young age to what was happening in the country and became conscious early on of change, uncertainty, and the ways larger events shape everyday life. For her, the scroll represents growing alongside America—watching both herself and the world evolve over time. Her own story includes movement too: born in Juneau, then living in Texas and Ohio before returning to Juneau, where she has now spent many years. After experiencing larger cities, she values the sense of comfort, safety, and closeness she feels in her current community. Her scroll celebrates awareness, change, and the experience of growing into yourself while the world around you grows too. 🎶
