The Making of Silkroad Ensemble's “Heroes Take Their Stands”

Emic Films partnered with The Silkroad Project- the musical ensemble founded by Yo-Yo Ma - to film a short, behind-the-scenes documentary of their inspiring 2019 show “Heroes Take Their Stands”.

This mini-film follows the journey from inspiration to performance with two of the five composers — Kayhan Kalhor and Pauchi -- and includes interviews with collaborators and Silkroad artists, along with a look at the full production.

We've been busy in quarantine, but it was a pleasure to make a trip to NYC with Greg Morrison to promote his new play, Dear Mapel. Produced with the great people at the Mosaic Theater Company of DC, this is a powerful personal testimony from one of our favorite DC artists. We hope this gives you a sense of what to expect!
