Amaka is a frontline hero—a bilingual nurse and former teacher who has spent her life advocating for others, including her two children with autism. While she provides strength for everyone else, her own confidence has been quietly fading due to CCCA.

Her Journey:
My journey with hair loss began in 2017... I was diagnosed with CCCA—a rare autoimmune condition that disproportionately affects African-American women and leads to permanent scarring hair loss.

Life continued to unfold beautifully... but navigating my children’s needs has been both emotionally and physically demanding. Many nights are spent researching and seeking ways to improve their quality of life. My role as a mother is my greatest blessing, but it also requires constant strength.

Amid all of this, my own health has taken a backseat. My CCCA has progressed significantly. Just this week, my dermatologist confirmed that the condition has spread. I am coming to terms with the reality that some of these areas will never regrow.

To receive a High Definition piece would not just be about appearance; it would be about reclaiming a piece of myself. It would be my crown—something I can put on with ease and confidence as I face each day. A piece that allows me to focus less on how I look and more on the life I am living and the children I am raising.
