The DAR Library is on the move!
As a reminder, the DAR will be undertaking a major restoration of the DAR’s historic Library beginning in July 2026. The entire contents of the library - including all the books - will be moved to off-site storage for the duration of the project, which is expected to last at least 12 months. The Seimes Technology Center will remain open to researchers and there will be no interruption of access to online record copies and supplementals while the renovation is ongoing, but there will be no access to the book collections during that time by anyone, including staff.
We understand that this will be a significant disruption for our patrons. If you had planned to do research during the restoration period, we encourage you to contact [email protected] as soon as possible to discuss how to use our search or photocopy services to assist your research before the work begins in July of 2026.
For updates, please follow us on Facebook at where we will be posting reminders, helpful tips, and progress reports on the renovation project.
LibraryOnTheMove On the national level and in local communities, DAR collaborates with a variety of others to spread awareness of common objectives.
A very special welcome to those of you attending the 5th annual Genealogical Research Institute today through Wednesday. Please keep in mind that while the DAR Library will remain open to the public this week, there will also be conference attendees in the building, so some services may be in high demand.
