Sandy and Luna have reached the feather stage Big Bear fans are calling their “goth phase.” 🦅

The gray fluff is giving way to darker juvenile feathers, longer tail feathers, bigger wings, and that slightly awkward almost-eagle look. FOBBV’s recent logs have also noted more standing, wingers, self-feeding, and confidence around the nest as Jackie and Shadow keep the pantry moving.

It’s funny, but it’s also the visible sign that the babies are changing fast.

A lone gray wolf just walked into California history. 🐺

BEY03F, a 3-year-old female born in Plumas County, has become the first publicly known wolf to enter Sequoia National Park in more than 100 years. She had already stunned wildlife watchers by reaching Los Angeles County and Inyo County.

One animal. Hundreds of miles. A century-old absence broken by four paws moving through the mountains.
