Why we created 4/20-friendly Airbnbs in D.C.
In 2018, I stayed at a 4/20-friendly Airbnb in Denver. No balcony. Nothing fancy. But it was the first time I could enjoy cannabis indoors without hiding, stressing, or having to step outside just to relax. That kind of freedom stuck with me.
When we started hosting in Washington D.C., we wanted to bring that same feeling here.
Since 2021, we’ve been managing 420-friendly homes in Deanwood — thoughtfully designed spaces where guests don’t have to feel like they’re doing something wrong.

🧟♀️ Airbnb Horror Stories: The Guest Who Checked Back In
She checked out…
Then hours later, she let herself back in.
The guest had requested a late checkout, so we scheduled cleaning for later in the day. But when the cleaner arrived — hours after her extended checkout time — they found her still inside, surrounded by trash, food, and a suitcase.
Her excuse?
She missed her flight.
Had nowhere else to go.
And since the unit wasn’t rebooked, she figured we “wouldn’t mind.”
She let herself back in using the emergency lockbox key — without permission.
Lessons learned:
🔐 Always change your lockbox backup code after each stay, especially if the guest used it.
🔋 Always replace low batteries in your smart lock before check-in if they’re running low.
🧹 Even with late checkouts, have your cleaner check for actual checkout before arrival.
