Halal Meat Monitoring Initiative

We understand there has been confusion and debate surrounding Flame & Fusion’s removal from our listings, especially after recent public statements and posts. We wanted to clarify the situation directly and transparently for the community.

The owner explicitly requested to no longer be associated with HMMI, which we respected. However, concerns escalated after the restaurant began publicly marketing itself as “100% hand slaughtered” across social media and advertisements despite sourcing information available to us indicating otherwise.

We also want to make clear that this was not an issue with approved vendors or suppliers. Multiple restaurants on our listings continue sourcing from those same suppliers without these concerns ever arising. This situation became specific to one restaurant and the halal claims being publicly presented to the community.

Another major concern was transparency. The restaurant began sourcing from other vendors without prior communication while continuing to benefit from being publicly associated with our verified listings. When concerns were raised privately, we were still being told these products were hand slaughtered despite the information available to us indicating otherwise. Sudden sourcing changes without transparency, combined with continued hand slaughtered claims, naturally raised serious red flags for us.

HMMI does not exist to attack businesses or create controversy. We also do not profit from approved vendors, supplier relationships, or restaurant partnerships. We are entirely volunteer-run and community-supported through donations. Our purpose is simply to research, document, and provide transparent halal information for Muslims trying to make informed decisions.

We understand many people have lost trust in halal verification and certification organizations over the years. But HMMI was built differently. We are simply building a research-based halal database for the community. People are free to follow whichever standards they personally believe in, but our own standard will continue to remain authentic hand slaughtered zabiha halal, transparency, and honesty above all else.
