Photos from Wantagh Fire Department's post 06/23/2026

At about 10:30 am on Sunday June 21, 2026 the Wantagh FD responded to a report of a natural gas leak at 2055 Alan Drive in Seaford. First Assistant Chief Paul Krussmann was first to arrive and reported that workers apparently struck a gas line while digging in the yard and requested National Grid to respond. Chief of Department William Stevens moments later and assumed command as Engine 3 and Squad 1 responded. National Grid arrived a short time later while members stretched a hose line as a precaution and metered the area to ensure that the gas had dissipated after National Grid stopped the leak. All operations were complete in approximately 1 hour and there were no injuries reported.
