July 5, 2026, Summer Camp Lessons 07/06/2026

Coming just one day after the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we reflected on the gift of freedom and what it means to continue working for the freedom of those who are still not free at yesterday's Sunday service.

This connected beautifully with our summer sermon series, “Summer Camp Lessons,” and Sunday’s theme: “Leave It Better Than You Found It.” Tune in for an uplifting and thought-provoking time of worship.

It was also Communion Sunday, so if you are watching from home, feel free to grab a piece of bread and some juice so you can receive Communion remotely.

Thank you to the choir for blessing our worship with “Make Me a Servant” as the introit, “I Love the Mountains” as the anthem, and “Kum Ba Yah” as the sung response.

Many thanks to the rest of our worship leaders for the morning:
-Don Driftmier for serving as liturgist
-Bailynn Morris for serving as acolyte
-Mikaela Hill for recording the service
-Nico Marucut for being our accompanist
-And Stacy Manfredi and Jackie Navarro for providing the delicious treats for coffee hour!

June 28, 2026, Summer Camp Lessons Series 06/29/2026

Yesterday, we continued our new sermon series, “Summer Camp Lessons,” with the theme “One Step in Front of the Other.”

We had the pleasure of welcoming back our three Sunday School kids who attended their very first overnight camp, and they shared what they loved and learned from the experience. We also heard from several congregants about their own hiking adventures, and Dr. James Rogers—theologian, husband of Pastor Lydia, and backpacking extraordinaire—delivered the sermon, beautifully tying it all together.

If you’ve ever been in a place, or are in one now, where you feel completely overwhelmed, tune in to learn the key to moving forward: focusing only on the very next step, and no further for now.

We are also grateful for our choir, who lifted our spirits with “Come Christians, Join to Sing” as the introit, “Keepin’ in Touch” as the anthem, and “The Lord Bless You and Keep You with Sevenfold Amen” as the sung response.

Thank you to the rest of our worship leaders:
-Jeff Chamlee for serving as liturgist
-River Henderson for serving as acolyte
-Charlotte Hill for recording the service
-Nico Marucut for being our accompanist
-Jeff Chamlee for providing the beautiful altar flowers and sanctuary decorations in honor of Summer
-And the Sunday School team for providing the delicious treats for coffee hour!

We sent a few of our Sunday School kids off to overnight camp at Camp Cedar Glen and they returned glowing, with stories about what they enjoyed and what they learned about God. When we asked them how they would rate their experience from 1 to 10, they said 10,000!!!

June 14, 2026 (And Commemorating Filipino Independence Day!) 06/16/2026

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to join us yesterday to remember and celebrate the life of Jake Sanchez!

As for Sunday morning's worship, we commemorated Filipino Independence Day and gave thanks for the gifts of freedom, culture, and community.

We were especially blessed by a beautiful Entrance of Lights to “Pandanggo sa Ilaw” (“Dance of Lights”), a beloved Filipino folk dance traditionally performed with candles or oil lamps, symbolizing grace, balance, and light. We were also moved by “Pilipinas Kong Mahal” (“Philippines, My Beloved Country”), a cherished Filipino patriotic song often sung to express love and devotion for the Philippines. And the choir blessed the morning with “Come Follow Me” as the anthem,.

Many thanks to the rest of our worship leaders for the morning!
-Chris Green for serving as liturgist
-Lourdes Diaz, Ginny DeGuzman, Juliet Ibergs, and Celi Mañacop for serving as acolytes
-Cynthia Green for recording the service
-Nico Marucut for being our accompanist
-Jeff Chamlee for providing the beautiful altar flowers in honor of Flag Day
-Our Filipino brothers and sisters for providing an abundant feast of Filipino fare for our fellowship hour.
