Day 10 of 20. I was challenged by Jon Peckman to share 20 albums in 20 days that greatly influenced my “all over the place” musical taste.
Today we have a masterpiece from the Beastie Boys “Paul’s Boutique”. I believe this was the “straw that broke the camel’s back” as far as the music industry and government cracking down on the use of samples. I think it’s one of the most incredible and creative usage of samples in recorded music. They don’t even remember half the music they sampled according to a book I read on the making of this album. Enjoy!

So it’s probably a known fact that many sound guys like to use Steely Dan music to play through their sound systems to aid in tuning in the system. This is due to the impeccable attention to sonic detail in which these albums were recorded and produced. This may lead to the question, “I wonder what Steely Dan’s sound guy plays through his system to tune his system?” Well, someone asked him and this album was his response.
