What Is This Groove Called? (A Mystery Rhythm In The Disco Era) (Flashback post done in the early TT days - I'm planning to do a revised extended version!) Ever notice that unmistakable rhythm running through so many 70s hits? From "If I Can't Have You" to "Copacabana", this groove showed up — but where did it come from? Turns out, it traces back to a Trinidadian artist named Lord Shorty, whose 1960s soca rhythms inspired a wave of disco and pop tracks that followed.
