But not just any chair, oh no. This is a chair that defies gravity, logic and common sense. It’s a chair that hangs precariously from the top floor of a dilapidated house with no roof. It’s a chair that has become a legend, a mystery, a meme, and its fame is growing at an alarming rate.

The chair has attracted almost 10,000 admirers, who have joined a Facebook group called “Chair Watch” to share their awe and wonder, and demonstrate that it doesn’t take much to excite people in New Jersey. The group’s description says it all:

“One day it will come down but until then we all must drive by and look at the chair in all its mesmerizing glory. Why is it still there? How long can it last? Will it blow off before the entire house falls down? Is it nailed to the floor? Things we all want to know and don’t want to know at the same time because it will ruin the fun. Watch the chair with us.”

The group posts daily updates on the chair’s status, along with hilarious chair-related jokes and memes. It’s the best thing that ever happened to New Jersey, and possibly the world.

But before you rush to join the fun, be warned: the group does not condone trespassing or disturbing the chair or the house. They respect the chair’s privacy and dignity, and so should you. The chair is not a toy, it’s a phenomenon.

How can something so simple create so much interest? Simple - Life is hard, and we all need something a little bit interesting or fun to lighten our mood. It is nice to have something to distract us from the every day grind, and the tedious job of keeping up with all of our demands.
