LEGACY Wednesday

Imagine it’s the year 2075.

Someone sees this portrait in a family home and asks,
“Who is that?”

“That’s my grandmother when she graduated from Old Dominion University almost 50 years ago.”

“She was beautiful.”

“I know. Everyone says I look just like her.”

What an incredible evening at the Virginia Aquarium for the unveiling of two judicial portraits I had the honor of creating for the VB courts. It was a privilege to share this moment with so many familiar faces and prominent members of our community. Feeling grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a special event & the legacy of our (awesome!) city. Looking forward to continuing this journey with more events on the horizon.

I often use the term "my bride", when referring to brides I photographed. (I imagine everyone in the wedding industry does this) Who were you talking to? Oh, just one of my brides, or I just saw one of my brides. (This would cause a funny pause.) I also say things like, she was my prettiest bride, my nicest bride, my favorite bride... So with that context, I never say my groom, except for Jerry. He was my favorite groom! Hands down!! Wow what a great guy. Virginia Beach is a lesser place today but a better place because of him. My condolences to his family and staff. Cheers to you Jerry!

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry W. Bryan, our fearless leader, mentor, confidante, restaurant owner and friend. Jerry was a remarkable man who deeply loved his family, staff, community and every guest that entered Coastal Grill.

As an award winning chef, he took pride in fine-tuning the dining experience and made Coastal Grill a home-away-from-home for so many in the local community for over 35 years.

We want to thank all of our cherished guests for their years of loyalty, and let you know we plan to honor him the best way we can, by continuing to uphold the highest standards in food and service.

His legacy continues.
