Twelve years ago, Riquel & Jessica traveled to DC to get legally married because, at the time, they couldn’t do that here in Virginia.

Yesterday, surrounded by family, friends, rain, thunder, lightning, and a whole lot of love, they renewed their vows right here in Virginia.

Their original Pride Fest ceremony may have been canceled by the weather, but love had other plans. It gathered everyone closer. It made the moment more intimate. It turned a stormy day into something unforgettable.

Riquel & Jessica’s love story has weathered storms, broken rules, and stood strong through it all. Yesterday was a reminder that love doesn’t need perfect weather, a perfect timeline, or a perfect plan.

It simply needs two people choosing each other, again and again.
And when those two people are surrounded by a community that loves them big, they can weather anything.
