Saturday, July 11, 2026 was a Sabbath filled with blessings. With assistance from a ministry partner Bishop Haynes and Mrs. Trisha delivered over 40 food boxes in the Vidalia and Lyons area to less fortunate families. They were able to get fresh fruit, a variety of meats, eggs and canned goods to low income households with children who normally don’t have transportation to area food banks and mobile food distribution sites. Throughout the day they met new people, interacted with old acquaintances, got the opportunity to talk with friends and family. It was a great day of showing the love of Christ by serving others.

Thank you to all of our ministry partners and community supporters that help make outreach programs like this possible. As the need for food assistance in the community grows so does our need for resources and funding. Although we deliver food packages to families in need free of charge, it still costs to provide this service. Every week we encounter more expenses and an increase demand for resources. Over the last year the monthly average deliveries have increased from 30-40 boxes to over 100 boxes. This means not only do we have our usual monthly expenses like storage space, utilities, insurance, phone, etc but we are seeing increased gas expenses as well. We don’t have the financial support or facility to become a Feeding America partner and rely solely on donations to operate our programs. When we have the resources we help families with small children with diapers and assist with personal hygiene products, which we are currently out of.

We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization which means that qualified donations can be tax deductible. If you are interested in becoming a community partner helping to “ changing lives, one meal at a time “ contact Pastor Patricia Haynes at (912)293-9712 Monday through Friday between 10 am and 4pm EST.

HEAT Chapel has served globally in many different areas of ministry since our humble beginnings in 2017. We rely heavily upon volunteers and donations to operate our community outreach programs. We are grateful for our amazing ministry partners around the world, especially our local community partners in the 6 counties near our international headquarters that includes organizations like other food pantries, drug rehabilitation centers, churches, PHA, and other community resource centers. We give back to every community that we serve in to help meet a specific community need. In some areas the community needs may include soup kitchens, emergency shelters, disaster response services, food pantries or other services. We operate low income family programs in multiple communities that provide assistance with food boxes, hygiene supplies, clothing, etc. We don’t have the funds or facilities to get supplies from Feeding America/Second Harvest partners like most food banks/pantries. Currently we are low on supplies due to increased demand and lack of consistent donations. Our food box deliveries are averaging 100+ per month in Toombs County with more calls coming in every week. We have over 40 deliveries scheduled before Sunday. We have a constant need for gas to pick up donations and deliver care packages. Canned and nonperishable goods and personal hygiene items are always in demand, fresh produce, milk, cooking oil and meat are always appreciated when we have it. We currently are out of all personal hygiene products and paper goods except for hand sanitizer and a few packs of pull-ups.

Our emergency response team and a handful of volunteers served over 2100 free hot meals and distributed over 3,000 pounds of food in Vidalia within a few days after Hurricane Helene devastated the area. Currently we are not prepared for another disaster like that. We will need a lot of resources on hand in preparation. Plastic utensils ( spoons, forks, knives ), carry out plates, napkins/paper towels, pallets of bottled water, etc. Although we have multiple grills and cookers for emergency response, our portable propane tanks are currently empty.

We currently have a need for a weekly soup kitchen in Vidalia and/or Lyons. We have some equipment but not a location, supplies or the volunteers.

As a result of our success with reducing the homeless population from 150+ to less than 30 that we are aware of in Vidalia from November 2022 until the city of Vidalia stopped this outreach in 2025, citizens in Reidsville and Swainsboro have recently contacted us concerning the need for homeless intervention programs including emergency shelters or a transitional center, which usually indicates the need for other community services as well. The Lyons street outreach and Community Chapel Services has been temporarily suspended due to Bishop Haynes having serious health problems starting in May of 2025. Preparations are underway to relaunch chapel services in the fall, the Lyons street outreach is expected to resume in a few weeks. Community meetings will be scheduled soon in other areas to form new partnerships and to help train street outreach team volunteers in their communities.

In August we will start collecting cold weather supplies ( blankets, jackets, sleeping bags, etc. ) We are already looking for potential locations outside of Vidalia to open temporary cold weather shelters if needed. Community assistance will be required if an emergency shelter is opened.

If you are interested in donating or partnering with us please contact us via Facebook, text Bishop Haynes (912) 245-7973 or call Mrs. Trisha (912)293-9712 ( 10 am -4 pm EST Monday-Friday )
