PORT OF VICTORIA WELCOMES NEW COMMISSIONER
The Victoria County Commissioners Court has appointed Sherry McShaffry to the Victoria County Navigation District’s Board of Directors, which oversees operations at the Port of Victoria.

When asked about joining the Board, Mrs. McShaffry shared, “As a native of Victoria, I have a deep appreciation for our community and its future. The Port plays a critical role in driving growth and opportunity across the region, and I am honored to be part of that mission. I look forward to working with my fellow commissioners to support continued investment and development that benefits all of Victoria County.” Mrs. McShaffry was born and raised in Victoria and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University. She began her career in Houston with KPMG Peat Marwick as a financial auditor, where she earned her CPA license. She then spent 26 years with Hanover Company, a national real estate development firm, serving as Controller and Financial Statements Manager.

In 2021, following the passing of her father, longtime community leader Elton Calhoun, Mrs. McShaffry returned to Victoria to take the helm of Regional Steel Products, Inc., a company with over four decades of service to South Texas. In addition to leading the company as President, she and her husband, Mark McShaffry, are restaurateurs, owning and operating three restaurants—two in Houston and one in Victoria.

Mrs. McShaffry is actively engaged in community service and currently serves on the boards of the Victoria Chamber of Commerce, Victoria Sales Tax Development Corporation, Habitat for Humanity, and the Victoria Police Foundation.
Vice Chairman of the Board Byron Burris expressed confidence in the new appointment, stating, “Sherry brings outstanding business leadership and a lifelong connection to Victoria. Her experience and dedication to our community make her a tremendous addition to the Port Commission. I know she will continue the legacy of service and impact that her father, Elton, embodied.”

Mrs. McShaffry will begin serving immediately on the five-member Board. Her appointment comes at a time of continued momentum for the Port, with multiple infrastructure initiatives and strategic partnerships underway, all focused on expanding economic opportunity and enhancing quality of life throughout the region.

As our Chairman, Robby dedicated countless hours to the growth and success of the Port, always leading with passion, integrity, and vision. Beyond his role at the Port, Robby was a powerful advocate for Victoria and its citizens—constantly asking how we could do better and make a greater impact. I have never known someone more available, uplifting, and inspiring. His loss is profound—not only for the Port, but for all of Victoria and the region.
