With a heavy heart, I share that Columbia River Veterinary Specialists, a hospital that has been a cornerstone of advanced veterinary medicine in our community, will be permanently closing its doors on September 4, 2026.
For nearly three decades, the extraordinary veterinarians, technicians, specialists, and support staff at Columbia River Veterinary Specialists have stood beside Panda Paws Rescue through some of our most challenging and medically complex cases. They have cared for countless special-needs, major medical, and hospice animals with exceptional skill, unwavering compassion, and a level of dedication that has changed and saved lives beyond measure.
While this chapter is coming to a close, the legacy they leave behind is immeasurable. Thousands of beloved pets, rescue animals, and families are better because of the expertise, kindness, and commitment of this remarkable team.
To every doctor, technician, assistant, receptionist, and staff member who has been part of this incredible hospital, thank you. Thank you for the long hours, the difficult cases, the innovative care, the tears, the victories, and the love you poured into every patient who came through your doors.
Though we are saddened to see this institution close, we are excited for the future of the talented professionals who made it so special. We know they will continue changing lives and advancing animal welfare wherever their journeys take them next. We wish each of you nothing but success, fulfillment, and happiness as you find new clinics to call home.
From all of us at Panda Paws Rescue, thank you for the years of partnership, friendship, and lifesaving care. Your impact will never be forgotten.
If you are located in the area, please research and save the information for my highly recommended ER Veterinary Care Teams so you are always one step ahead, prepared and in trusted hands.

Today was Kind Augusts pamper day! He was given the royal treatment at Guardian Veterinary Care where he was given a clean bill of health! We sedated him, cleaned his teeth, full spa day grooming out any lingering mats, updated his vaccines AND he has a fancy shmancy new microchip too! His microchip is the newest version that also takes their internal body temp! So prestigious of him to possess a state of the art chip. Anyhow, he was a wee bit tipsy in this photo but we are since back home and he is already playing in his water bowl making a mess for his servants to clean up. All in all his total bill to get him fully vetted and 100% ready for his next chapter was $815.92. If you would like to chip in towards this royal buns getting all UTD you can donate here or via PayPal with the email [email protected]

Little stinkers were trapped inside the awesome rainbow bird house feeder nest & unable to graduate to the next level. Genius safe spot to build a nest but not so terrific when it’s eviction time! Their mama has been encouraging them and enticing them from the outside with food and beautiful vocals. Unfortunately, the roof on the birdhouse was not allowing them to help up high enough or to get on a ledge without hitting the ceiling and falling back down. Overnight two of the five babies passed and their momma stayed vigilant encouraging the others to come out. I had moved them to an upgraded, actual nesting box and today they are starting to do some 1st flights with their mama! It actually really sweet watching momma so excited and tending to all of them! Wish them luck! 🪺🍀🐦⬛

King August has officially made it to the homestretch of his adoption journey. After receiving over 200 applications, things have now been narrowed down to three potential happily-ever-after homes for this majestic orange ruler. Everyone who applied should have heard back from me by now — if not, please be sure to check your spam folder just in case.
I’m incredibly grateful to have had a little grace time to carefully work through applications before August’s upcoming dental appointment on June 8. I anticipate we will have everything buttoned up shortly after his veterinary visit, and this fluffy king will soon be on his way to the next chapter of his spoiled, adored life. 🧡👑
