We want to spread the word about an important documentary screening in Portland on May 2 and 3. This story and the film itself are a must-see for all those who want to explore or begin to understand the complexity of sons, brothers, and how generational pain unfolds, entwines and begins to heal. This film is a gift of healing and a challenge to all of us as we navigate repair, longing, and the subjective perspectives we hold about one another's needs.

The filmmakers and their team took such care with offering resources and links for trauma-informed care, healing, and mental health.

What do two film-obsessed brothers do to solve a family mystery? Using every video format imaginable, they make a movie as they travel thousands of miles looking for their missing mom. Stitching together 25 years of home videos and filling the gaps in the archive with play, Sam Now is a mosaic of love, longing and loss, and an attempt to overcome intergenerational trauma.
