Thank you so much to our Sparkle Partner, !! Vancouver’s Downtown Association has done so much for Dandelion since it was just a little wish waiting to bloom, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their support and friendship. Dandelion wouldn’t be here without VDA, and our Pride Block Party wouldn’t be near what it is without them either. We love VDA!!! 🥰🪩🕺

Today we honor Marin Luther King, Jr.
The story of this photo is that in 1964 when Martin Luther King was put in the back of a police car in Florida, officers put a German Shepherd in the back with the intent to intimidate him, but instead, the two became friends. While it has been disputed that the dog is actually feeling friendly, we see the pup showing no aggression and looking calm while King has a smile. This photo is a sweet representation of King's core value of meeting intimidation with love as he fought for racial equity and justice with nonviolent action.
If anyone would like to share what MLK Day signifies for you, what you do to action & connect with community on this day, or MLK events you have heard happening today or throughout this week, we'd love to hear about it. Thoughts you have may help others find new ways to connect with MLK's lived values.
