Captain Soup
Do you even fly Apaches and eat soup bro?!
Why do we constantly move our sheep? ๐
This practice is called rotational grazing, one of the foundational principles of regenerative agriculture championed by farmers like Joel Salatin. ๐งโ๐พ
Rather than grazing the same pasture continuously, our sheep are moved regularly to fresh grass. This gives previously grazed areas time to rest and recover, allowing plants to regrow, soil biology to thrive, and the land to become healthier over time. ๐ฟ
The goal isn't simply to raise sheep. ๐
It's to steward the land in a way that works with nature rather than against it. ๐ฟ
At City on a Hill Farm, we believe healthy soil produces healthy plants, healthy plants produce healthy animals, and healthy animals contribute to more nourishing food.
So when you see Sophie moving the flock, you're witnessing more than a daily farm choreโyou're seeing regenerative agriculture in action. ๐ฉโ๐พ
The quality of our food begins long before a batch of soup is ever madeโit starts right here in the pasture.
