Tyler Community Band

ecame the Tyler Wind Symphony. 1998-1999 saw the introduction of Holiday and Patriotic concerts to our season. Todd left at the end of the 2002 Spring semester and Dr. Emge became the director of bands at UTT and The Tyler Community Band was named. Mark Crim stepped in a couple of times when Dr. Emge took a sabbatical. He stepped down to raise a family after the Spring 2010 concert. Mark Crim and Nathan Templeton conducted the Summer concert and Bill Waltemath took the baton until fall of 2012 when Dan Stone became the director. Fall of 2015 saw Tim Schodowski and Sarah Roberts become joint conductors. They usually traded off and combined for the Summer concerts. Brent Farmer replaced Tim in 2018 and Dr. Roberts bowed out that next Fall. Neil Smith and Judy Wilson became our new co-conductors in the Spring of 2019. Judy left to be with her grandbabies in 2021 and Mike Holbrook stepped in for a concert or two when Neil had health issues. Mike became our defacto director in the Spring of 2024 and Neil was named our Director Emeritus. We play 4 concerts per year, Fall and Spring traditional shows and Christmas/Holiday and Patriotic concerts. We are a 501C3 non-profit organization.
