π¨ Rescue Intake is Getting Out of Hand... π¨
We found this little guy trying to get seen in our meet and greet area.
After a thorough examination by our highly trained rescue staff, we have determined:
β Not a kitten
β Not a puppy
β Not even remotely friendly
β
100% Pocket Gopher
We love helping animals, but we have to admit this one had us scratching our heads for a minute. π
Don't worryβthis little guy was safely released back where he belongs and is probably already hard at work redesigning someone's yard.
On a serious note, while we always do our best to help animals in need, please remember that abandoning animals at our gate is dangerous for them and creates challenges for our already full rescue.

What a wonderful day at Texas East Kids Summer Camp! πΎ
This week is Animal Camp, and the kids are spending their time learning all about animals and the important role they play in our lives. Today, we were honored to join them and share a little bit about the rescue world.
We brought along Scooby and Rick, two of our amazing rescue dogs, and Pepper, our sweet and loving cat, to spend some time with the campers. Olivia and James talked with the kids about what we do, why animal rescue is so important, and how to properly care for and respect animals.
It was such a joy to spend time with these wonderful kiddoes, answer their questions, and help them learn compassion, kindness, and responsibility toward all living things. Seeing their excitement and love for animals gives us so much hope for the future.
Thank you, Texas East Kids, for inviting us to be part of your Animal Camp week! β€οΈπΆπ±

Sometimes life changes in ways we never expect.
In Upshur County, an elderly couple had 15 dogs that they loved dearly and did their very best to care for. Unfortunately, as their health declined and financial hardships increased, they reached a point where they could no longer provide for their beloved pets. Both have now moved into a nursing home, leaving no one behind to care for the dogs.
One of those dogs is a sweet girl named Baby.
Baby had been living outside under a small wooden A-frame shelter, tethered by a wire cable. Despite her circumstances, she remained gentle, loving, and eager for affection.
When the family and the Upshur County Sheriff's Office reached out for help, animal advocate Kerri Downs stepped in. After meeting Baby, Kerri saw a shy but incredibly sweet dog who simply wanted someone to love her. She immediately contacted Kat, who told her to bring Baby to Pets Fur People.
Today, Baby is safe.
She is receiving the care, comfort, and love she deserves while we work to find her a forever family. Her life has changed dramatically in just a short time, and while she may be a little shy right now, we know her true personality will shine through as she learns that she is finally safe.
We are grateful to Kerri Downs, the Upshur County Sheriff's Office, and the family for doing what was best for Baby and reaching out for help when they needed it most.
Welcome to the Pets Fur People family, Baby. Your next chapter starts now. β€οΈπΎ
