I am an honorably retired, 28-year veteran of the Tyler Police Department. During my tenure with the Tyler PD from 1991-2019, I served in the following units: patrol, traffic, background investigations, recruiting, honor guard and as a financial crimes investigator. I was honored to be a member of the US Secret Service Financial Crimes Task Force, which was vital in bringing an end to the gas pump
credit card skimming that plagued Smith County in 2018-2019. I hold an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master Peace Officer Certificate with over 3500 TCOLE continuing education hours. Due to my work in Organized Retail Crime with the US Secret Service task force, I was recruited by the Home Depot organized retail crime unit and their regional director of operations in 2019. I decided to retire from Tyler PD after 28 years and take on the role of District Manager over Operations and Asset Protection for this Fortune 500 company. (If you prefer not to mention Home Depot) There, my team manages 1000+ employees across East Texas and Western Louisiana. If elected, I will incorporate my faith in God, my conservative family values, as well as my years of effective public service, professionalism, and leadership to the Smith County Precinct #2 Constable's Office. I will dedicate my time and effort to restoring the integrity, professionalism, and fiscal responsibility of the office. It is my strong desire to return to serving our community, and I vow to diligently perform all required statutory duties of the Constable’s office with integrity and professionalism, as well as any other fiscally responsible duties that would benefit the precinct constituents without adding cost to the taxpayers of precinct 2. Unlike the other candidates, I am uniquely qualified for this position because of the vast law enforcement knowledge and actual police experience gained over my 28-year career with the City of Tyler. I am the only candidate with experience in all areas needed to run a professional Constables Office: a strong faith in God and family, real police experience, a proven history of job stability and dedication to one agency over my career as well as critical supervisory experience. Family and Church
I have been married to my wife, Heather, for 23 years, and we have three children. Heather worked as a teacher at Grace Community School and currently works for Rose Heights Church as their Nursery/Childcare Coordinator, a position she has held for over 10 years. She is also the Executive Director of Rock of Living Water Ministries, a non-profit we started in 2018. Heather and I have two daughters and a son: Emily, married to Jake Glaspie, is in her final year at UT Tyler College of Pharmacy; Alyssa is a junior at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, studying Journalism and Communications; and Andrew is a senior at Grace Community High School. Heather and I have been members at Rose Heights Church for 20+ years. Heather and I founded a non-profit charitable organization, Rock of Living Water Ministries, which operates out of Tyler and works in Uganda, Africa, with a mission to support and encourage families to serve and share Jesus through work, worship, and the Word. The ministry focuses on helping families stay together by sharing the gospel, delivering food to those in need, rescuing babies and children who have been orphaned or abandoned and bringing hope by providing education for women and children. To that end, construction of a baby home in Uganda to care for those abandoned babies was recently completed. The ministry also supports a home for boys who have been rescued from living on the streets, but are striving to find new life through Jesus Christ. Community Service Awards & Commendations
