Elegantly.Simple

It was 2008. I was newly married. I would make my husband go for walks with me in the new neighborhood across from our apartment and I’d dream about buying a house there and raising our kids there. Building our dream life!

2010 we moved to Utah. Had a couple kids. Dreams changed. Life happened.

2014 we moved back home. Once again, I’d make him drive around this neighborhood with me and dream about our future. All of our friends lived here now. It was the most desirable area in town. He started telling me to give up hope. We were never going to be able to afford it.

November 2018 he decided he didn’t want to be married anymore and we were divorced by January 2019.

August 2019 I bought this house in that neighborhood all by myself.

Good schools, even better neighbors. It’s not too big for me to keep up with by myself but big enough we can be comfortable here for a long time. No holes have been punched in the walls. There’s a walking trail nearby.

It’s been three years and we still love it. This is one of my proudest accomplishments. I DID THIS BY MYSELF! After being told for years to give up. It’s so much more than just a house.

It’s our new beginning. Our safe place. It’s where I learned to love myself. And where I discovered just how freaking strong and capable I am. That I can do anything. And I don’t need anyone else to be enough.

Happy three year anniversary to the stronger, better, happier me that is finally living my own dream.
